#LAWTAKE - NXT RESULTS 10/04/22
Chad Law here for yet another #LawTake as I sit through yet another lively episode of Tuesday night NXT. Some highlights shall we?
Pretty Deadly were questionable to start off their NXT run (for those unfamiliar with their NXT UK run), but have finally hit their stride with getting their braggadocios comedic attempts over. The duo made valid points - who is left to challenge for their NXT Tag Team Championships? Enter Brawling Brutes (only for the night at this rate).
Melo finally doesn't miss! A much needed victory to get the viewers believing he has a chance to win the North American title back at Halloween Havoc, but lets be real, it's about time Melo goes after Bron. If JD can get this many attempts can The (former) A Champion get a few stabs at the belt? Here's to hoping Oro Mensah doesn't end up like Xionn Quinn a year from now (more on that name later).
How does Von Wagner still have a job in the Vince McMahon-less era of WWE? Andre Chase is WILDLY over to the NXT U-niverse (see what I did there?). I remember the inception of Andre's gimmick during the infancy of 2.0 and I didn't see this staying long but I essentially was wrong. Andre will make for a great babyface in peril whenever and if ever he gets "the shot." As for Von, Robert Stone Brand is still a thing and Von is now going on to Halloween Havoc to potentially become North American champion? Shawn Michaels, don't you piss us off like this.
Without Tony or Dimes, "Stacks" is a fish out of water. Puns intended.
Sanga and Veer? New challengers for the NXT Tag Titles? Sign me the fuck up!
Wendy Choo Crew is live and effect and I am leading the charge. She has "IT", in my opinion. If she ditches the sleepy time gimmick, remains to be seen, but maybe she can just use her skillset and adorableness to get the shit over in the long term. What was her previous gimmick? Who cares. Lash Legend in the ring isn't enjoyable, and I dare anybody to compare her to Ms. Cargill at this stage, but the woman is trying. She's got the look and the steeze to keep the attention. Just keep her far, far away from Mandy Rose.
Ilja Dragunov is going to take some time to regain confidence in his position within NXT but also to the audience. The NXT UK overhaul continues as JD McDonagh shows off why his tactical ways will allow him to win the title at Halloween Havoc (and you know what, for his second attempt and for the sake of shaking shit up, he just might).
Bron Breakker is feuding with just about anyone that stands in front of him. See you on the receiving end of a powerslam next week, Javier Bernal. Can we jumpstart Melo/Breaker ASAPidly for the 4th Quarter already?
If the NXT Tag Title situation was bleak on the mens side, don't look no further than the women's side to see limited options only. I was in favor of keeping the NXT Women's Tag Titles and the main roster belts split, but for the sake of having more feuds, lets merge these things in 2023.
Zoey Starks is always a solid hand, so mentoring Nikita Lyons suits her. The typical imploding team feud will be one to double back on this post for in 2023. Toxic Attraction need to head to the main roster like yesterday, but the crutch of Mandy Rose will most likely prevent that.
Grayson Waller is going to try anything that works to get him over so salute that man. NXT hasn't had an in-ring talk segment so this is fine with me as a staple to keep Grayson busy whenever he feels like antagonizing someone. Apollo Crews is having too much fun with this feud, with no end date in sight.
Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez can feud all year long and I'll enjoy both of them on my screen. While one or the other should dethrone Mandy in the near future, this blood feud is just fine to wrap up the year and get both women over in the process.
Duke Hudson, came and went. That guy has got the Von Wagner appeal all over him but with an accent. Julius Creed smoked this guy then proceeded to get berated by an extremely drawn out Damon Kemp promo. Julius was right, too many stipulations. Ambulance Brother Leaves Town Match to settle the Diamond Mine feud? Sounds too good to be true when you have a Roddy Strong return looming in the wings.
Hank Walker and the Security is absolutely going to get over six months from now. Bookmark this if they really take that gimmick serious. Xyon Quinn gets a win, does it matter? Not really but at least he's got something to talk about since his feud with Legato died down last year.
Quincy Elliott appeals to the happier community and he serves his purpose. Good for him and his appeal. Looks like a lusty feud with Xyon is waiting in the rings.
The Schism isn't going to end any time soon either. Boy oh boy are they just getting started with this Cameron Grimes feud.
Six months ago if you would have asked me if I would be hoping to see The Brawling Brutes get a meaningful win, I might have shrugged. Now, I need them boys to pick up a W that matters. Being on the losing end of feuds with major tag teams thus far since inception, it's time them boys get a run at something that matters. Just wasn't tonight at as Pretty Deadly added their names to the list to hold an L to them.
Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen as well as Edris Enofé and Malik Blade let it be known at the end now the show that they want next. This should buy Pretty Deadly some time while also adding credibility to their reign as neither team really stands a threat.
Until next week's NXT! Follow me on Twitter @Chad_Law to catch up with more of my outlandish takes.
