#LAWTAKE - AEW DYNAMITE 7/24/24

It’s Wednesday so you know what that means… it’s Episode 251 of AEW Dynamite. My favorite Wrestling comedy show is now underway and so is my Law Take for tonight. Shall we begin?

  • AEW is in a better space when MJF is a heavy focal point of the show. It’s no debating this.

  • MJF drops the International Title in the trash can ala Medusa, debuting the new MAGA/American/United States/North American Title for the interim.

  • Ospreay attacks MJF from the crowd following MJF unveiling a giant American flag with his face all over it, to then announce that at All In in Wembley he is invoking his rematch against MJF for the International North American title.

  • Statlander lost to Willow already, now this feud must go on. Stat is looking the hottest she has ever looked as a heel.

  • I’m still stumped as to why Stat and Stoke are asking for an Eliminator match for a belt that isn’t sanctioned with AEW? Whatever. Pack this feud up.

  • This Suzuki/Jericho match was the best dumpster fire of a filler match to compete with a live Joe Biden speech.

  • I never want to see Suzuki have matches on my television but here we here. Shibata saves Suzuki after Suzuki ate an L which will inevitably lead to a tag team match against the Learning Tree. Why, why, why?

  • I’m still not used to seeing wise old man babyface Jeff Jarrett on a regular basis but we are here now.

  • I’m ready for Bryan Danielson to turn the seriousness on and act like he has a MAJOR main event World Title match at the biggest AEW PPV of the year and cut this yoga, chill shit out. We still have a month until the PPV so I hope the shit turns around for the best.

  • I have never been happier to see DMD back full time in the ring.

  • In that same vein, her math with Shida (who looks thicker than previously) was a clunky showing. Call backs to their pandemic matches with Britt Baker getting the inevitable W via the Lockjaw.

  • Mercedes Mone makes her appearance with both belts and her best cowgirl outfit for Nashville to distract DMD long enough for Kamille to make her debut to crickets.

  • As an NWA guy, I am ecstatic the longest reigning one time NWA Women’s Champion is now here after being signed with AEW quietly for the last four months. A video package or two or three spread across weeks would have been nice to at least warm everyone at home and in the building up to her arrival, AT THE LEAST.

  • Kamille being Mercedes muscle is going to be outstanding though. Finally, more of a reason to sink our teeth into Mercedes character development.

  • Christian Cage wearing all three Trios belts!? This man can do no wrong! Long live the Partriarchy.

  • Nick Wayne doesn’t stand a chance winning the Royal Rampage Battle Royal for a World Title shot.

  • PAC versus an Enhancement Talent, following a promo of Nick Wayne talking smack to an Enhancement Talent (really Kip Sabian), before Mariah May beats an Enhancement Talent. Was I actually watching Rampage instead of Dynamite?

  • PAC has a International Title shot waiting in the wings any week now, meaning an inevitable loss to MJF should be fun to watch for free. Where PAC ends up for Wembley? My guess is the pre-show or another designated battle royal.

  • Watching the Blood & Guts babyface all squabble in the back amongst each other felt wildly contrived.

  • Mariah May has zero hips to copy Toni Storm’s Hip Attack. I gotta say, I am more ready for Mariah to finally be on her own and develop her own move set.

  • Toni Storm appearing after Mariah’s squash match to have a pull-apart brawl was good. This feud is heating up and will be a banger at Wembley I am sure of it.

  • Going into B&G, I really wanted this whole feud to end and the majority of everyone go their separate ways. Coming out of it, I doubt that will be the case. Highly and clearly.

  • This was easily one of my favorite Blood and Guts matches of all the Blood and Guts matches I will say.

  • Swerve had his defining moment of his entire reign in this match from the being cuffed to the cage, to the stapler, to the Hangman moments. Really, really good stuff.

  • The Buckaroos threatening to fire Hangman if he didn't get in the ring after ambushing Swerve outside the ring during his entrance was hysterical.

  • Okada/Hangman at Wembley seems more likely. AO called that one well.

  • The flat ending of these matches just needs to be tweaked some. Why didn’t everyone who won on the babyface side get title shots against the opposite heel champions? How did Darby end up being the only one getting a TNT Title shot?

  • OH, ANOTHER DARBY ALLIN TNT TITLE MATCH?! Can the Darby Allin ball washing slow down? SPOILER - son won the Royal Rampage battle royal and now ALSO gets a World Title shot at Grand Slam in September. I can’t be the only one sick of this shit. It’s 150 people on this roster and we somehow always come back to Darby Allin in the prime spotlight of everything!

  • Jack-Off Perry took so much of an asskicking this match and I loved to see it. His TNT Title reign has been so unmemorable, but then again so has the Bucks Tag Title reign and Okada’s Continental Breakfast title reign. I can’t wait until those belts get around the grasps of people that are actually going to wrestle. Thanks, Mudline!

That is all folks! Until next Wednesday night for Dynamite. Meanwhile, check out my upcoming Law Take for WWE Smackdown.
