#LAWTAKE - WWE NXT 7/23/24
It’s Tuesday night so it’s only right I’m tapped into this brand new episode of NXT on USA as we prepare for a two-night series known as The Great American Bash. Here we go..
Why is Trick Williams even entertaining two guys like Ashante The Adonis and Cedric Alexander, who have had no airtime or wins across three brands? This is as random as it gets. Trick makes light work of both of them with an impending match against Cedric later in the night.
This No Quarter Catch Crew/Tony D & The Family squabble over the Heritage Cup seems never ending if I’m being honest. Spin the wheels why don’t we.
Lexis King eats a clean loss to Eddy Thorpe before Thorpe gets his DJ hand taken out by King and his pimp cane. This feud continues and nobody asked for it
Ora Mensah vs Ashante The Adonis went on way too long for my liking but Ora needed a credible win to establish why he should even have a shot against Ethan Page and the NXT World Title.
Why is Trick Williams straying further and further away from the NXT Title? I understand the need to have these filler feuds for the time being but it’s just not clicking. Trick gets a much needed win over CEDRIC ALEXANDER but then gets attacked by Pete Dunne afterward.
Pete Dunne has been lingering in NXT for weeks now and should be a fun opponent not help get Trick over the hump in regard to ring work. My thing is… Pete is also getting his ass kicked by Sheamus on Raw at the moment in their tentative feud. Two looming L’s against two larger opponents across two brands? Whatever.
Brooks and Jensen can’t leave each other alone and now Shawn Spears is here to continue driving a wedge in between them. Oddly enough, I see this ends with them all forming a faction together once Briggs realizes he can’t beat Jensen after all.
I love seeing Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson getting shine in the tag division. Sol Ruca looks completely different tonight with her hair straight and not curly. Karmen P eats a pin and now we see Lash and Jakara go on to eat a pin to the Women’s Tag Champions The Unholy Irishwomen next week at Night 1 of The GAB.
I still can’t believe The Rascalz talked themselves out of a Tag Title match in favor of a Six Man tag. They must have been stoned.
Ethan Page is going to deal with Noam Dar in the worst way when Noam returns from injury, so for now Ora Mensah is defending his Meta 4 partner and is trying his best to make us believe he can win the NXT Title via unofficial roll-up three counts on Ethan Page. I don’t buy it and neither do any of us at home. Match should be cool though.
I’m still stumped at having Ava as a GM but then Robert Stone and random Stevie Turner being both of her assistant GM’s. Stone has been in NXT just about longer than anyone on the roster besides Pete Dunne at this point and still feels like he’s mingling with the bottom of the card. What is Stevie Turner’s purpose?
Rascalz vs Axiom/Frasier/Je’Von Evans was BANGING. I need that match to occur more frequently… and seeing as Rascalz cleanly pinned the Tag Champions I think we know who the next challengers will be.
Je’Von Evans can’t buy a win, even in a six man tag. I won’t go with the “he’s being buried” motif but at some point something has to give. Dude is too bouncy (pause) in regard to in-ring work and being over with the crowd to just be floundering around, even with the consistent main event looks.
Thank you for the read folks and until next Tuesday, I’m out!
