#LAWTAKE - AEW DYNAMITE 7/31/24
When AEW does a Dynamite from a state like South Carolina or another podunk area across the U.S., I already know the show is going to be majority filler besides an advertised main event. Low and behold, tonight was just that. Lets get into this weeks Law Take, shall we…
AEW is always in a great space when MJF opens the show on a weekly basis. No matter how ya slice it, MJF will always be a fan favorite.
The “American” Champion ran down South Carolina before being chased away by Will Ospreay, yet again. How many more weeks will we have to watch this same cat and mouse game?
Anytime Lance Archer is on screen, it’s a sure fire lock buddy is not winning a match. Low and behold, Will Ospreay made light work of this giant and continued to build back rapport as he gets closer to Wembley.
Kyle Fletcher made the save for Will after the match when MJF made his presence felt, then cut a pretty damn good babyface promo. Too bad he’s still APART OF A MAJOR HEEL FACTION LEAD BY DON CALLIS. MJF vs Fletcher next week in a non-title tune-up match.
Why does a CMLL Women’s Title Eliminator match even need to be on this program but we can’t even get a mention of Athena’s ROH Women’s Title retention or Red Velvet winning the ROH Women’s TV Title? After seeing how quality Death Before Dishonor was, ROH really needs more mention/spotlight and FAST.
Statlander finally gets herself a 50-50 win over Willow and a match for the CMLL Women’s Title. LOL OKAY. Street Fight-esque stipulation for the rubber match at Wembley now loading.
It’s still crickets for the CMLL Women’s Title on this show. I advocate for more ROH Women’s spotlight. Hell, just more Athena would be excellent.
As forthcoming as that Bryan Danielson promo was, this has been an underwhelming last year to watch him compete in. Just not how I imagined it would go when he announced the retirement tour.
Watching white people dance is always hysterical. It’s like a sport for me. CC: Swerve’s entrance.
Swerve/Danielson finally have an interaction worth noting as we build toward their match at Wembley, although with Hangman in the shadows I still feel he will overshadow this match.
Swerve defecto plays the heel in this feud with Danielson as he promises to end his career, thus making Danielson put the stipulation of if he loses he’s 100% done. Is Bryan really going to retire in Wembley? Does Swerve’s reign end this abruptly? It’s so many ways this feud can pivot to and THAT has me now intrigued.
RUSH joined the Don Callis Family and you wouldn’t know nor care.
Why isn’t Mark Briscoe portrayed as Top 5 babyface of this whole entire company? Not even a paragraph when it came to the reference of ROH’s solid PPV from Saturday and most of the people in this ring competed in a match!
Also, what the hell does anything about this six man tag of KOR/Mark Briscoe/ISHIIIIII vs Beast Mortos/RUSH/Roddy Strong have anything to do with building towards Wembley?
The Acclaimed flubbed their promo by saying FTR didn’t show up to get their ass kicked in their home state.. of course not, because AEW is in South Carolina, not North Carolina, and FTR only appear on Collision! Duh!
I just need this potential Acclaimed/FTR/Bucks Triple Threat Ladder Match at Wembley to take place already and move the hell on. Enough with any variation of these three teams having a match.
Ahh well that Mariah may sit down was a big bag of nothing. Fitting, it was 9:30 PM EST on the dot. A good line or two from Mariah and the job was done.
Ahh well that Toni Storm shouting on the microphone at the top of the ramp with a heel in her hand following Mariah’s sit-down was also a big bag of nothing. Fitting, it was 9:32 PM EST.
When Mercedes Monet shows up, it’s not much of a reaction. Only but three Black people in the crowd doing the CEO dance with no chanting of CEO from anyone to match.
Kamille defeated a local enhancement talent with ease to build up her inevitable win streak/face turn against Mercedes six months from now.
Mercedes cuts a confident promo against DMD, mentioning she’s “suspended” per the Elite’s orders. That’s what’s up. See ya next week.
For the first time ever, Hangman Page faced Darby Allin in a battle of AEW pillars. This match was pretty fun. No outside interference was even sweeter. No Swerve, no Okada, no Jungle Jack-Off. Just the lights going out for a few seconds, no House of Black either.
Darby beats Hangman relatively clean, which surprised me. Hangman threw a tantrum after and that just lead to nothing but Darby retreating up the ramp and waving him off. Well, that was the end of the that.
A flat Dynamite overall, but I’ve come to expect that when AEW comes to cities and states like South Carolina. The pure heat happens when they hit major cities and I think that will reflect in this weeks ratings. Until next time, folks.
