#LAWTAKE - AEW RAMPAGE 5/11/24
I am soooo here for three hours of AEW on a Saturday night. Finally, more reason to care about Rampage! Dive into my Law Take review from tonight’s Vancouver episode.
Starting Rampage off, Kyle O’Reilly goes to lift Adam Copeland’s hand in the ring after the loss and Copeland just stands there and gives an empty look. This is that part of feuding with House of Black that I HATEEEEEEE.
Here comes all the mystic, cryptic, mental mind game bullshit that comes along with feuding with House of Bleh. Copeland going heel isn’t really what I need, nor does this company running low on quality babyfaces.
Claudio promo backstage to remind everyone he’s staying out of unnecessary business and is determined to get wins. I mean shit, he’s not lying. Mans can use something credible to his name since losing the ROH Title which essentially felt like a consolation run.
Rare Dalton Castle sighting as he gets fed to Trent so Trent can rehabilitate his W/L record after ALREADY LOSING TO HIS NEMESIS ORANGE CASSIDY.
If Dalton Castle would have won this match, I would have believed it how over he was and how well he did.
Trent’s new submission is that old Undertaker Hell’s Gate submission and I guess that works, whatever gets him notoriety in his longstanding feud with a guy he already lost to.
Thunder Rosa gets Collision, Deonna Purazzo gets Rampage. That should let you know who’s winning that feud overall.
RUSH is back and instead of just bulldozing his way to Swerve for a colossal feud, he’s just gonna chill on Rampage.
Bryan Keith vs JD Drake took me back to WWE Velocity days. Maybe it’s because it’s two guys who have no upward trajectory on this roster or it’s because it was a late night Saturday show.
Bryan Keith deserves some more. Boy had steam when he signed and now he is just flailing without a life jacket.
Copeland vs Malakai Black in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match @ DoN 👍🏾👍🏾 fine, I’m sold!
Deonna Purazzo and Lady Frost had a match. It was solid. Lady Frost should really be confirmed to be All Elite by now because he’s a very solid hand to have for that women’s division that can wrestle and get over with a crowd,
Deonna Purazzo and Taya Valk on the same one hour wrestling show and it wasn’t labeled TNA. What are the odds of that?
Deonna’s new finisher seems to be a Tree of Woe turned to a running shoulder tackle. I guess? Whatever gets her some rehabilitation as she prepares to hold a heavy L to Thunder Rosa, who would attack her unsuccessful after the W Deonna acquired.
The Acclaimed drop a new music video record vignette I would assume asking for new competition. They are so cold it’s insane to watch at times.
Scorpio Sky is embracing his knack of injuries by just being an optimistic guy who can’t wait to get back in the ring. More bodies. Scorpio can work in any program he gets put in, hopefully one that matters. He long deserves a shot since his TNT Title days.
Johnny TV Morrison is on deck for his match against someone who needs a win - PAC.
PAC appearing like a sundried fish out of water unlike his usual “moist” (pause) appearance has been odd to get used to.
This match was actually solid because it’s two veterans who can work and know how to jump off the ropes, even PAC who will take an extra 60 seconds to do any top rope maneuver.
A Brutalizer on Johnny after an unsuccessful Taya interruption puts a W under PAC’s win column.
Bullet Club Gold make their appearance via a vignette to taunt PAC and what will probably be Death Triangle reforming to go after the Trios Titles.
Overall, 8.5/10 Rampage for me. Not much more to be asked for. If you watch Rampage, you’d know what’s going on for sure. If you don’t, this is the leftovers of what won’t make it to Dynamite next week or what didn’t make it to Dynamite on the week of.
Match quality was on par and stories continued on, included with much needed return vignettes from key players such as RUSH and Scorpio Sky.
