#LAWTAKE - AEW DYNAMITE 2/28/24
Yerrrrrr! It’s the go home show for AEW Revolution and boy oh boy was this a headache of a show. Let’s begin the Law Take shall we?
Where do we begin… ah yes, Hangman is where.
Hangman dog walked everyone into thinking he wasn’t competing… only to compete with the graphic ready advertised… as previous. I guess. I can understand why people are pushing back on this ‘swerve’.
As for Swerve… passionate promo that featured lines such as - & - 😂😂 the crowd went QUIET for that brief period of time.
Joe does look like an angry dad at a sweet 16. Or someone that just stormed out of a Greek restaurant on Steinway in Astoria.
No way Joe loses. I thought maybe with the Swerve / Joe singles match.. but now.. nah. Joe on the run of his life right now.
Swerve/Hangman 3/4/5/6 whoever’s keeping count gotta be nothing short of (another) blood bath. Double or Nothing it is.
“He’s not injured after all!” Thank you for that one Captain Excalibur Obvious.
Swerve ovvvvversold those crutch shots but what do I know I’ve never been hit by any LOL.
I’m ready for the emphatic spotlight on Bryan Danielson’s final stretch of active wrestling as we get closer to Wembley.
I felt Bully Ray… as a way to honor Sting’s finale it should be no other tag team matches on this card.
But alas TK has gotta give these wrestlers a payday and a bathroom break for viewers at home too. Enter FTR/BCC match this Sunday.
I will say - if the Bucks win on Sunday - the tag team division has a lot of room to improve this summer. FTR, BCC, Hardy feuds for PPV feuds, with Top Flight, Private Party, & some other random Babyface team to get them through TV matches; were in for a kickass summer of EVP TORMENTING in AEW and I’m a fan of this… for now.
Helluva six man tag but you expected that barn burner with those heavy of names. That ending makes me believe Kingston retains to really get that moment of a handshake from Danielson, as Danielson is so teflon and against being a champion that a DOMINANT showing in a lossing effort would only be par for the course.
LUCHA JERICHO IS HEREEEEEE. Finally unlocked. Long Live The Ocho.
Amazingly brief video package to show wtf Atlantis and the Jr are. If only ALL the CMLL crossovers could get this type of brushing up before they make their debut on national television. I shrug.
The real reason we’re all here tonight - WILLY GOAT IS HERE BRUV!
With reps in on the mic, maybe a caption and a bouncy ball on the screen, and more proper intro’s to the American audience, William will get over with the American audience. Oh yeah and because he has the best matches of any of his peers so him wrestling Kip Sabian on a random Collision could actually make my Saturday night at home worthwhile.
When will the Don Callis family end? Probably no time this year.
wtf is Kyle Fletcher in all of this! Besides a name drop from Callis tonight, Is AEW going to pull a WWE and act like neither man were just in a faction now that Will is under a new spotlight? I’m intrigued.
It was today when I realized it’s two “Will’s” in the DC Family. Who cares, right?
Takeshita vs O’Spreay is going to be a MOTN/MOTY contender.
Matthew & Nicholas Jackson genuinely make me laugh. It’s so bad it’s good. Looking for Sting as Eddie Kingston just happens to be in the back huffing and puffing with Renee.
Pockets has an International Title defense before his next International Title defense. Uhhh… okay. Let’s just assume this is Orange Cassidy’s last successful title defense so he went out with a bang against Nick Wayne.
142 day reign as International Champion for Orange Cassidy and you wouldn’t have known it. Not one memorable moment this second reign.
Nick Wayne’s FL produced theme song made the crowd go mild.
Shayna Wayne is a baddie. Yes please. More Shayna Wayne.
Christian is statpadding then hell out of this TNT Title and I’m all for it. He HAS to go into the World Title picture once he loses that belt whether it’s to Copeland or not.
AEW without Copeland these last few weeks have felt noticeable. Hopefully mans makes his long awaited return for retribution on Saturday at the PPV.
Why do Taven & Bennett want Nick Wayne to beat Cassidy? Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of Roderick beating him at the PPV? Giant DUH hanging over this one. Would have made more sense if Undisputed Stupid would have helped him win quicker to mess with him in my opinion. Not like Christian & Killswitch would do anything about it, let alone expect a follow-up to come about if it.
More cameos from Trent and Co and boy do they all look like dweebs. Jake Hager came and went. Orange Cassidy needs a break or a revamp.
Bang Bang Scissor Gang is way too many men with title belts in one picture frame. I pray I don’t wake up and find out they will be squeezed into a multi man match fighting Pentagon & Kommander and some more randoms on the actual Revolution PPV. At least save it for the Buy In.
Oh and let’s pack this faction up eventually. Sooner than later. Jay White deserves better. The Acclaimed fall from grace.
Deonna and Madison Rayne had such a bad match last week on Dynamite Tony Khan just cut both Deonna and Toni from this weeks show and said let’s forget that even happened, see you ladies Sunday!
As random as it gets, Statlander fights Skye Blue yet again, for the love and attention of Stokely Hathaway I guess? What is Willow even doing? Why do I have so many question marks and head scratching moments when I watch AEW program (no skips, fast forward, first thoughts, real time)
Mercedes Monet has BIG business to handle indeed. Restoring order, care, attention, any form of energy and life to the flailing AEW Women’s division. NXT had over what, 3 women’s matches this week? Whether you agree with the quality of wrestlers or the match, it’s the effort that’s going into it from the bookers. One women’s match that has nothing to do with your women’s title match at the PPV Saturday won’t cut it.
Skye Blue won and so what, where does this lead? More rematches on Rampage?
I know this company has an affinity with titles but a women’s tag team title could save this division.
Why is Chris Jericho wrestling in the main event of a go home show to your next biggest PPV on the year against interchangeable Lucha? I hate it here.
Another lucha/masked wrestler with a belt. Welcome to another Dynamite on Wednesday.
Btw, Atlantis put Jericho in a cool Torture Rack airplane spin that inevitably just landed Jericho on his feet that lead to Jericho sweeping Atlantis off of his feet to get put in a Liontamer. What a moron.
Senior threw in the towel for Junior for what??? Why are we supposed to care that this under ten year wrestler, who basically walked Jericho through this match, can’t withstand a Liontamer from a 30 year veteran? No real reason.
Sting’s last Dynamite and it was spent with 5 minutes in an overrun. No real excitement for Sting’s last appearance on Dynamite ever. Just the Bucks EVP’ing it up.
Ric Flair should stay away from the ring following Saturday. Andrade is gone, Sting will be gone, hell even MJF isn’t around. It’s time for the Flair experience to fade to black.
What if Sting and Darby retain? Why is nobody speaking as if this is a possibility? Sting wants retribution but what if he wins? Does he just abandon the tag titles with Darby? Does Darby find a new partner and give up being a champion in AEW to flounder back in the singles division? Yeah I’m overthinking that. Bucks win.
Speaking of, Darby back in the singles mix this season should be interesting direction wise. Does he go right back in the TNT title picture? Please no. Does he become foil for Samoa Joe in a David Vs Goliath battle? I could be here for that. If anyone could do it it’s Darby. Or maybe Darby and Roderick Strong tie it up for the International Title this Spring. Possibilities are endless once we get past the chaos that is Saturday.
I left this showing of Dynamite more excited for WrestleMania 40 than Revolution.
Thank you for the read and your time my pals! See you tonight for a new episode of the Ringside Club,
